Description Forgotten User --EoyBps8f 2008-09-25 14:58:08 UTC
There are no packages for the RTL8187SE available, which is for example used in the MSI Netbook. Although there cannot be any official support, easing the use of such devices could help a lot of users.

I searched for any packages containing 8187 and did not find anything for 11.0 or current Factory.

Do you have a pointer to this driver source?

, is where I got it from.

Which link off of that bug? There are lots of different ones and I'm uncertain which one specifically you are looking for?

What device are you wanting support for?

As described int hat bug this is about a WLAN module. There are two versions of the driver at launchpad and several patches, some of them ubuntu-specific. The version that works for me is the 0716.2008.

A description of how to get the wlan working and what is needed for that can also be found here: http://wiki.msiwind.net/index.php/OpenSuse_11.0

I'll attach the hardware-info

Ah, I found this device in my hardware pile, and have a driver for it as well (different version than you are pointing to here.)

It looks like we just need to add a bit of code to the existing in-kernel driver to get this hardware to work properly, I'll try to get this done soon and let you know how it goes...

Now commited in the current kernel tree, will show up in the next 11.1 kernel release.

It works! I tested with WPA PSK.

Thanks a lot for making this possible.

Could it be that the driver got broken in 11.2 bug 567308 ?
