Seems to be a problem with the Perl bindings: Storage.ycp:363 Perl wanted to die: OverflowError in method 'StorageInterface_byteToHumanString', argument 2 of type 'unsigned long long' That error comes from LibStorage_wrap.cc:24021

SWIG_AsVal_unsigned_SS_long_SS_long can produce this error also if the value is negative. I haven't checked further but that could be a likely cause.
*** Bug 431944 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** In bug #431944 is a y2log with debug information attatched. The value doesn't seem to be negative. Maybe this is architecture related since the conversion works fine for big numbers on i386. Good point. OK, so Perl integers are long long (8 bytes), whereas ints and longs have only 4 bytes. The log from comment 5 says that it fails with a value of 80026361856. The bug is in the SWIG glue code, where a routine handling "long long" (SWIG_AsVal_unsigned_SS_long_SS_long) incorrectly uses just "long" at one point. It passes unnoticed on i386 but fails on ppc, where the clipped value comes out as negative. It seems the origin of the bug is in swig-1.3.36/Lib/perl5/perlprimtypes.swg:249 "long v = SvIV(obj);" (and also on line 114) Upgrading the bug, as there is potential for nasty surprises related to partitioning. Martin: thanks for the thorough analysis! *** Bug 436959 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** well, we can remove -Duse64bitint in perl.spec, if it helps. sles11 is all 64bit, so I'm sure -Duse64bitint is not required anymore. Michael, please remove the -Duse64bitint from perl.spec, its not required anymore. Huh, I don't believe you. If you only use the 64bit perl, why should -Duse64bitint make a difference at all?
Either you want the IV to store a 64bit value (which was required to store address) or not.

As long as sizeof(long) returns 4 on ppc64, you'll need the "-Duse64bitint".
Please fix SWIG instead!
this is opensuse with a 32bit perl. I agree that swig needs fixing as well. Are you sure sizeof(long) is 4 on powerpc64-linux? If gooseberry is ppc64 then yes. gooseberry runs either powerpc-linux or powerpc64-linux binaries. default uname -m returns ppc64, maybe you checked that. try to run gcc with -m32 and -m64, to see the difference for sizeof(long). Ah, that explains it. '-m64' really makes sizeof(long) == 8. Much better.

As you can see, ivtype is long, so that this can't cause the problem with swig.
No need to remove the -Duse64bitint.
see comment #14, this is a powerpc-linux 32bit perl binary. please remove the -Duse64bitint config option, or state why that options is required for opensuse (and why its ppc ppc64 only in the rpm spec file), please fix swig anyway to handle that case. SWIG is fixed. I don't know why it's both ppc and ppc64 in the specfile, the ppc64 is pretty useless. I won't remove it for ppc, though. It was added because people needed it. If SWIG is fixed we should be fine. -Duse64bitint is there because IBM requested it in SLES10. Please remove it. And break compatibility with openSUSE 11.0?
