The current OSS repo contains the old TeXlive2007 distribution. TeXlive2008 has considerable improvements besides updated packages: for the first time it officially includes a package manager for LaTeX packages which dramatically simplifies package handling for the average user.

Since all the rest of the distribution is very uptodate, I very much hope that the openSUSE LaTeX community won't be forgotten!
