Description Forgotten User VqcLmSAkg- 2008-10-23 13:17:19 UTC
See summary. It is hard to describe: The distortion interrupts the display of the GUI various times, but it always returns to normal. It is more or lessa cosmetic issue. I can upload a short video showing what happens (and showing me, damned glare screen), maybe that explains it.

Video hardware:
Model: "Intel Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller"
  Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation"
Device: pci 0x2a03 "Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller"
SubVendor: pci 0x144d "Samsung Electronics Co Ltd"

I bet, that's a duplicate. Try adding the line

  Option "AccelMethod" "XAA"

to 'Section "Device"' of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Partially helps. It removes the flickering before the KDM screen appears, but it still flickers twice while the splash screen is running.
