Description Jags FL 2008-11-05 18:24:46 UTC
Just installed opensuse 11.1 Beta4 from i386/x86 DVD for the second time.

Firefox crashes with no error message within a minute or so every time.

Installed Epiphany and its crashes the same as Firefox.

It doesn't for me.
Could you please have a look at
http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:mozilla
and provide some more details?

hi Wolfgang

I need help running this:

rpm -qa --qf='%{name}-%{version}-%{release}-%{arch}\t%{distribution}\n' | grep -i mozilla

As I'm not sure what 'release' means, I ran it two different ways(obviously both are incorrect as I'm getting errors):

(1) rpm -qa --qf='%firefox-%3.0.3-%2008092701-%i686\t%SUSE\n' | grep -i mozilla

error: incorrect format: missing { after %

(2) rpm -qa --qf='%{firefox}-%{3.0.3}-%{2008092701}-%{i686}\t%{SUSE}\n' | grep -i mozilla

error: incorrect format: unknown tag

'About Mozilla Firefox' reads:

Firefox version 3.0.3

Mozilla/5.0 (X11;U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3)
Gecko/2008092701
SUSE/3.0.3-3.3 Firefox/3.0.3
Comment 3 Wolfgang Rosenauer 2008-11-05 21:09:51 UTC
It's even easier. Just copy'n'paste the line as it is. No need to put expand any variables ;-)

when I run Firefox from termial, firefox -d gdb, it freezes instead of
crashing.

Attaching screenshots, which I know may/may not help at all.

Is there any other way ?? Aslo how to generate deatils for Epiphany please.

Comment 8 Jags FL 2008-11-05 22:32:45 UTC
Firefox is still keeps crashing when opened from Main menu. And somehow it never generated any crash report of its own, as mentioned here:

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Mozilla+Crash+Reporter

Even when I did: about:crashes, it said "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded", instead of displaying "A list of links to your crash reports will appear".

Can you please tell me where(path to the folder), if at all, Firefox/Mozilla saves crash reports.

Thanks, Jags

Comment 9 Jags FL 2008-11-05 22:38:42 UTC
ok I did find out the path, /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/, but there wasn't any "Crash Reports' folder at all.
Comment 10 Wolfgang Rosenauer 2008-11-06 07:36:56 UTC
The openSUSE package of Firefox doesn't create and send crash reports since they are of no use for Mozilla Foundation anyway and openSUSE has no infrastructure to collect the sent crashreports.
So your gdb try was sufficient even when you didn't type "bt" into the debugger window ;-)
