Description Lassi Väätämöinen 2008-11-07 14:56:38 UTC
Virtualbox does not run as non-root user. A popup-window is shown, that says:
"Effective UID is not root (euid=1000 egid=100 uid=1000 gid=100) (rc=-10)

Virtualbox runs normally, when invoked as root user, e.g. using gnomesu.

Information for package virtualbox-ose:

Repository: openSUSE BuildService - Virtualization (VirtualBox)
Name: virtualbox-ose
Version: 2.0.4-4.1
Arch: i586
Vendor: openSUSE Build Service
Installed: Yes
Status: up-to-date
Installed Size: 65.2 M
Summary: VirtualBox OSE is an Emulator

Probably a build configuration error related to "hardened main"?
Comment 1 Martin Kudlvasr 2008-11-11 14:19:25 UTC
the problem is, that 2.0.2 still ran as vboxuser without suid (and without --disable-hardening).
Comment 2 Martin Kudlvasr 2008-11-13 15:33:40 UTC
Seems like an suid virtualbox will be a necessity.
