YaST Printer - installation - driver selection

After building driver database and presenting drivers, there was list of 4 choices, and first one was preselected.

After pressing OK it is asking to select driver.
Click on the already highlighted item and OK, brings the same question.

When I select different list item and go back to first, then installation proceed.

Snapshot of YaST Printer window.

Marked as 1:
Here is preselected first driver.
Just pressing "OK" will give user popup window with warning to select driver.

Moving selection to, for instance second line, and then back to first, and pressing "OK" will install driver.

It seems that variable that holds user selection has no default value, although on screen user can see first line highlighted. After moving selection to second line it will be filled with user input.

Marked as 2:
This is just esthetics. Buttons should be lined up with input field.

Just to change NEW to ASSIGNED.
The checkmark on Add Attachment screen changed NEEDINFO to NEW, instead to ASSIGNED.

I guess it is some work for bugzilla maintainer.

Rajko, changing to NEW is correct. It's not assigned yet - this will happen now ;)

A known issue which is already fixed.

When no driver was preselected internally, prepend
a "Select a driver" dummy entry because the first entry
in a SelectionBox is always preselected in the GUI.

For this particular model no driver was preselected because
neither a downloaded PPD nor a recommended PPD
nor a manufacturer PPD exists.
In this case YaST does not preselect a PPD because
there is nothing which indicates that a particular PPD
is known to work "best" so that only the user can make
the decission in this case even if all he can do
is guessing but then he knows at least that he
only guessed which driver might work "best".

A current yast2-printer version 2.17.47
is available via the openSUSE build service at
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jsmeix/

Regarding using FACTORY in openSUSE 11.0 or 10.3, read
