Description m d 2008-12-04 19:09:03 UTC
Hotplugged drives formatted with ntfs without preconfigured mountpoints cannot be mounted.

Hal in kde 4 dolphin returns an error:

error while accessing: Volume (ntfs)
.org.freedesktop.hal.device.volume.unknownfailure: todo: have to rethink extra options
Comment 1 m d 2008-12-06 13:41:19 UTC
For clarification: the issue affects any remote storage device formatted with ntfs that does not have an entry set up under /etc/fstab. Effectively regular users cannot mount such filesystems without resorting to root priviledges to mount ntfs manually.

Expected behaviour: ntfs mounting is transparent and automatic to regular users

I have the same issue with the latest upgrades of the oS 11.1 RC1 version via internet.
