Screenshot of flickering window bar

Hardware:
VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5200] (rev a1)
Monitor: LG ELECTRONICS L1715S (shouldn't matter anyway)

Software:
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.12-pkg0 (patched to comply with 2.6.27)
(NVIDIA driver from NVIDIA Repository didn't work either)

glxgears shows frame rates > 2000/sec: NVIDIA acceleration is active

Is this with desktop effects enabled or disabled? Can you reproduce the problem with another driver?
Comment 2 Forgotten User MdQvOBD8hM 2009-01-08 13:09:49 UTC
Desktop effects are disabled. With desktop effects enabled, it's even worse!

Which driver would you like me to try? This is the driver designed for the NVIDIA card...
Comment 3 Lubos Lunak 2009-01-08 14:15:07 UTC
The 'nv' driver.
Comment 4 Forgotten User MdQvOBD8hM 2009-01-08 14:26:15 UTC
Appears to be working with the nv driver. No flickering for the moment.
Comment 5 Forgotten User MdQvOBD8hM 2009-01-09 06:46:44 UTC
Lubos, the nv driver works stable. Will you forward the bug to the NVIDIA team?
Comment 6 Stephan Binner 2009-01-09 11:55:43 UTC
Btw NVidia released new drivers today...
Comment 7 Stefan Dirsch 2009-01-09 12:00:04 UTC
Sounds like a duplicate.

Comment 8 Rob Janssen 2009-01-10 11:34:46 UTC
Nvidia did release new drivers, but those are not suitable for his (old) GeForce FX 5200 card.
There does exist a newer 173.14.15 driver for his old card, but I think it only fixes the compatability with new kernels and X.org.

Oops. Then I'm sorry. In this case the reporter needs to complain directly to NVIDIA. SuSE/Novell can't help here with proprietary drivers.

Can't find this version on NVIDIA's website.
