Description Forgotten User --EoyBps8f 2009-01-08 12:13:44 UTC
If one has more than one knm4 plasmoid on the desktop and is connected to a network, those plasmoids show "current profilename" as connected. If one removes one of those plasmoids, knm4 disconnects from the network (which might be a bug as well). After that it still shows the "current profilename" but disconnected and the list of available networks does not show the profile name for the current network but just the SSID.

So if one wants to re-connect and clicks on the SSID, the "new profile" dialogue pops-up. There is no clickable item that re-connects to the current but disconnected network.

If it makes sense that there should only be one profile per SSID, then the profile name should be shown in the list instead of the SSID. Clicking on it would re-connect. The user could still create more than one profile per SSID, via the profile manager.

If it is common to have more than one profile per SSID, the SSID is needed to easily create a new profile by clicking on it and there needs to be another solution.

I just noticed that there is another aspect to this issue. If one removes the second plasmoid and knm4 disconnects, only the SSID is shown, so nothing to click on. If one disables the device via the checkbox and re-enables it, the plasmoid does not show the "current profilename" (where the connected network is displayed) anymore, but just the SSID. If one adds another plasmoid they show the profile name overlapping the SSID, so now the user can re-connect by clicking the profile name.

So the question might be, why is the profile name for the SSID not shown after disconnecting but only after adding another knm4 plasmoid?

Because it's a bug. Will look at it.
