When you try and edit a repository entry, it would be nice to have the current URL "pasted" into text box, to make small edits.

What you get is a very inflexible and annoying dialog.

Firstly you cannot change, the repository "category". So altering install DVD to ISO file, or a directory after loopback mounting it, requires a deletion and then and edit.

Also you cannot higlight to copy the text in the links displayed, which then prevents pasting.

I'm using KDE4, and browsers have this functionality, so it would appear to an application limitation.

Fortunately, frequent use of this program is unlikely, but it's actually a high visibility part of the system, for new installers, and reviewers.

As it stands, I'd prefer to just be able to hack a text file than use this GUI tool, because it takes a while to figure out, ways round it's limitations.

"requires a deletion and
then and edit" Should have been, adding and deleting is
necessary to change the cateogory.

You can copy the URL from the details frame displayed below the table in the main dialog and use it for a new repository.

For FTP/HTTP repositories there is "Edit complete URL" check box which displays the URL in single text widget.

Use the files in /etc/zypp/repos.d directory.

I think this is fixed in 11.2, by the server & directory dialog.
Comment 4 Ladislav Slezák 2009-11-18 12:32:52 UTC
No, that works only for remote repositories (ftp, http, ...). For CD/DVD repository is doesn't work.
Comment 5 Robert Davies 2009-11-18 16:53:58 UTC
Yes, you're right about CD/DVD though I have been happy with the copy/paste in now. To be frank, I'm satisfied with the tool improvements, I would not have filed this bug against the 11.2 version, because it's not annoying any more. Thanks! :)
Comment 6 Ladislav Slezák 2009-11-18 17:03:00 UTC
Ok, I'm resolving it as WONTFIX as I have too many bugs and I won't probably have time to improve it more.

Thank you for your feedback!

Thanks for the improvements, I think it's basically fixed.
