Description kevin vandeventer 2009-01-23 22:30:03 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-2.5 Firefox/3.0.5

The component for this bug is YaST2 but you're bugzilla component window translated it as Xfce desktop environment.

Anyway, when selecting certain functions in Yast2, it quits and prints errors in the terminal.

YaST2 sw_single error from konsole after selecting 'add' in the repositories window:

YaST got signal 11 at YCP file Wizard.ycp:743
/sbin/yast2: line 437: 4679 Segmentation fault
$ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS

This same error happens when I'm in User and Group Administration module and I click 'edit'.

If I install software and I get the window saying I need to insert the disc, I insert the disc and then click retry and YaST2 quits.

I'm using QT45 if that is relevant, along with KDE4 RC1 4.1.96-65.10 and yast2-2.17.54-1.1

I've updated to KDE 4.2 and still have the same problem.

Same here on opensuse 11.1

Adding (or changing) repositories to YaST's software-management is not possible any longer. This intent will be quitted by the following x-message:

"YaST got signal 11 at YCP file Wizard.ycp:743
/sbin/yast2: line 437: 6796 Speicherzugriffsfehler $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS"

The failure appeared after updating some packages including those for KDE 4.2:

/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1

 and

/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1+Qt45/

I try to add an attachment: y2logs.tgz
This is from today. The failure is still the same.

I think this ist quite a severe problem since you cannot use YaST2 in some modules. Therefore I changed the severity-status.

Yesterday I upgraded to KDE 4.2 release 90.1 and libqt 4.4.90+20090207-1.1. I'm no longer getting the segmentation fault and YaST appears to be working normally.

Closing as FIXED.
