Description Greg Riedesel 2009-04-29 04:25:22 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.9) Gecko/2009041500 SUSE/3.0.9-2.3 Firefox/3.0.9

When using the NET disk and loading over the network, and using the default kernel with no additional drivers loaded, the trackpad does not work during the Installation screens. The keyboard bindings still work so it is still possible to get around.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot to the NET CD
2. Run the SMB/CIFS install
3. Escape the WLAN setup since the wired network is connected and working which it failed to notice for some reason (not this bug)
4. Go through the text-mode installation setup to start the graphical install shell

May be reproducible through direct DVD boot. Can't test that right now.
Actual Results:
Trackpad clearly does not work. Not responding to movement or mouse buttons

Expected Results:
Trackpad should work.

Dell Inspiron E1505, unmodified. Didn't have this problem with 11.1 or 11.0. Did not run completely through the install screen on this pass.

The /var/log/boot.msg file during the install, while the install screen is at the first page.

This seems to be the same issue, but on a different laptop (Compaq Presario 2110US):

http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2009-04/msg00241.html

The Dell E1505 also uses a Synaptics touchpad.

Duplicate of Bug 498334 as the Acer Aspire 4330 also has a Synaptics touchpad, same as the Dell E1505.
