KDE4's KDM does not work. After removing it and installing KDE3's KDM, logging into a KDE4 session does not work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. zypper up using Opensuse's KDE4 repository
2. restart computer
3. wait for KDM (does not appear)
4. replace KDE4 KDM by KDE3 KDM
5. login into KDE4 session
Actual Results:
of step 5: "Could not start kdeinit4. Check your installation."

Expected Results:
KDE4 startup

typing "kdeinit4" on the command line results in the following output:

"kdeinit4: symobl lookup error: /usr/lib/libkdeui.so.5: undefined symbol: _ZN7QTabBar9hideEventEP10QHideEvent"

A similar line mentioning libkdeui.so.5 appeared in some logfile when still using KDE4's KDM.

The same message appears when I log into FVWM and try to start KDE4's Kontact, for example.
Comment 2 Ulrich Derenthal 2009-05-12 21:49:45 UTC
Problem seems to be solved after further update (this time using Yast2 instead of "zypper up -y" - I am not sure whether this caused more packages to be updated, or whether a fixed package was posted in the last few minutes).

Use "zypper dup".
