Description Tomas Radej 2009-06-01 09:08:43 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.2; Linux) KHTML/4.2.3 (like Gecko) SUSE

I am getting slow performance with Intel X3100 (DELL Inspiron 1525). Compositing is working (both OpenGL and XRender), glxgears give me 600 FPS no matter which settings I change. Tux Racer runs at 8 FPS. Direct Rendering Yes, the option to use it in settings is ticked.

You can read my xorg.conf to see the tweaks I used (apart from EXA rendering they didn't change the performance much). Already applied INTEL_BATCH="1" in /etc/environment. Didn't help at all.

Also when playing movie (even lo-def) in Xine picture always freezes (and unfreezes after about 5 seconds) when subtitles overlap the movie. 720p is very choppy, no matter what, when Compositing is enabled.

Attaching lots of logs.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Turn it on.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Runs quite slow. 600 FPS in glxgears isn't what I expect.

Expected Results:
Definitely more than 1500 FPS and >25 FPS in Tux Racer. Not to mention video.

There's nothing we can do about 3D performance on 11.1 unless we decide to replace the whole X stack (Xserver, driver, Mesa, libdrm) and Kernel (DRM) for openSUSE 11.1. Hope that things become better with GEM/DRI2/UXA/DRM on factory ... In case you want to follow this development, X11:XOrg project might become your friend.
