I'm trying to boot 11.2M3 KDE4 LiveCD on a Dell GX620 with an X600 ATI Radeon card.

Normally, this works with the "radeon" driver.

However, the M3 LiveCD tries to use the fglrx driver, which does not exist. After login in the console, I've seen that xorg.conf is very short, it does not specify any driver. I suppose it's the new fancy driver autodetection from X.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot 11.2M3 KDE4 LiveCD
2. X does not start
3. just a console login screen
Actual Results:
Text console login screen

Expected Results:
An X graphical environment

can you verify X starts if you remove xorg.conf completely?
Comment 2 Silviu Marin-Caea 2009-07-13 14:36:43 UTC
Yes, X starts if I remove xorg.conf completely. It's not the native resolution of the monitor, but it's something. It starts with 1024x768 and the monitor is 1280x1024.

make another bug report for the wrong resolution
