Description Atri Bhattacharya 2009-07-25 07:15:37 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.0) Gecko/20090623 SUSE/3.5.0-4.6 Firefox/3.5

According to

http://hedgehogpainter.livejournal.com/3916.html

it should be possible to set the hostname from yast network settings module despite the pop-up warning. however as of Milestone4 this does not work. After setting the hostname of my choice from the concerned module, I still cannot ssh from remote computer into my computer with this hostname.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Set hostname from network settings module in yast
2.Save settings.
3.Try ssh from remote computer using set hostname, does not work.

I am using dhcp, by the way.

 - with YaST you can configure sysconfig configuration. NetworkManager don't accept/use all that settings, so I can't do anything and as I know, it won't be implemented in NM

- anyway, it won't solve your problem. When you change your hostname, all other machines wouldn't know it. This is something for DNS server
