As an example I use kpowersave, zypper if kpowersave has a blank "Summary:" and "Description:" field. If I use yast2-qt sw_single for the same package I get the following behaviour :- on highlighting kpowersave summary is blank and description displays

icon and kpowersave

If I select i586 version (my system is x86_64) then the full description is displayed the same as rpm -qi kpowersave and if I switch tabs to force window update the summary is also displayed.
This appears to happen only with oss x86_64 factory packages, all noarch, i586 packages and packages from other repositories display correctly

Factory non-oss packages also display correctly.

With zypper the problem only happens when the x86_64 factory package is not up to date.

Sounds like broken metadata. Maybe the x86_64 packages miss the link pointing to the i586 package that contains the summary and description. Those data are shared.
