...is a well known problem.
In current M6 FF uses Evolution as default mail handler, although it is not installed. Result: Nothing happens if you click a mailto:
openSUSE should register KMail as default Mail program, as KDE is the (proposed) desktop for openSUSE

We have different open bugreports about the KDE integration of Firefox.
Most important bug 170055 which has work ongoing.
The reason of the "wrong" default is that Firefox uses gconf (which is a Gnome thing) and the gconf default for mailto is 'evolution'. gconf doesn't care if an application is installed or not unfortunately.

I'm going to close this as dupe.
