Description Vojtech Zeisek 2009-10-07 07:38:46 UTC

When I choose Czech language (I did not try others) during boot from openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 8 KDE LIVE CD (64 as well as 32 bits; I did not try GNOME), the boot screen is in Czech, system in English (it is OK), although some applications are also in Czech (Firefox). Some random partial sentences, mostly in YaST, are in Czech - the level of translation is random and strange. It is translated. SaX2 is in Czech, for example.... This would not be so big problem (I understand CD is small), but at least YaST LIVE Installer should be localized on CD - that is the bug I'd like to be fixed. For most of not very skilled users it is more comfortable to perform (for them difficult installation) in their native language.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot from (KDE) LIVE CD (openSUSE 11.2, Milestone 8)
2. At startu screen choose non-English language (I tryed Czech)
3. Launch YaST LIVE installer

Expected Results:
At least YaST LIVE installer is localized to all available languages. Translation of LIVE CD is not random and makes sens.

I'm afraid there's no (official) way to fix this. Translations for top languages only (en, de, es, fr, it, pl, ru) are included on LiveCD, the CD itself is not inflatable and space is the issue here.

Sadly, Czech is not among them. See also bug #437563 and this thread on translations ML: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-translation/2009-08/msg00000.html There are more neither English nor the above mentioned lang speaker users frustrated about the issue.

The only way to have this fixed is to use kiwi and create one's own unofficial fully localized clone of LiveCDs: http://en.opensuse.org/Localized_LiveCD
