Not sure how it's related, but that option has been disabled for us on 11.1 too, and very likely on 11.0 (can't remember that far back, but we're certain 10.2/10.3 had it enabled). We thought it was related to the fact that we're launching the installer via PXE and pointing to our own mirrors for repositories. Yet using the same procedure for SLES10/SLES11 allows us to select 'clone for autoyast'. you need to install autoyast2-installation Just disabling the checkbox if the package is missing is not nice[tm]. It is even worse because there is no hint why the checkbox is disabled, and it's impossible to install the package at this stage of installation. Proposal: - Never disable the checkbox. - Let YaST automatically install the autoyast2 package when someone ticks the "clone installation" checkbox. (It shouldn't be too hard for YaST to install a package ;-) fixed for 11.3 With 11.3 DVD-Build0577-x86_64 it works as described (as in clicking the box brings up a popup asking if autoyast2 should be installed which then gets installed just fine) but it seems it then doesn't create any autoyast config. According to all the docs I found (eg. http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php/Unattended_installation_using_autoYaST ) it should create a "/root/autoinst.xml" but there is no "autoinst.xml" file on the whole system. Also it shouldn't silently drop the file somewhere so it later has to be searched but should show a popup telling where it saved the autoyast config like it is shown in the first screen shot in that d.n.c article linked above. yes, that a different issue now *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 605132 *** |
