I experienced that with pre 1.3 radeonhd and manually setting it to use EXA and it's the same with 1.3.0 without any changes.

The problem simply is that if one uses EXA then X locks up randomly and the only solution is to power off and restart.

The hardware is a Thinkpad Z61p with a FireGL 5200V.

The problem has to be somehow releated to the EXA mode cause without it or with compositing disabled on KDE4 it doesn't happen.

(but without EXA the compositing stuff isn't usable since it e.g. takes several seconds between resizing a window and it actually happening)

So I'm happy to provide any information requested but am somehow clueless how to do so since, once it happens, the whole system is locked. Therefore please advice what might be valuable to you and how to get it.
