these permissions are done by ConsoleKit/HAL/DeviceKit framework these days, no need for group membership. in my system not work sound if i not add user in Audio group, in updates i can now view update for ConsoleKit/HAL/DeviceKit *** Bug 536802 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** just installed 11.2 RC2, situation with the sound exactly the same, until manually add a user to the group Audio sound is not working. device rights -> kay Access is granted for locally logged-in users, groups are not used. How do you log into the box? What DisplayManager are you using? How is X started? >How do you log into the box? localy with console >What DisplayManager are you using? KDE 4 >How is X started? from console with "startx" script (In reply to comment #7) > >How is X started? > from console with "startx" script startx does not integrate with ConsoleKit, and therefore no ACLs are granted. Access for local users is not supported that way, and you might need the manual group assignment like you did. Please use a DisplayManager like kdm/gdm for out-of-the-box support. i no not understant why user not addided to group Audio by installer ? no all users use X with kdm/gdm ..... no normal user belongs into any of these groups by default. any of them could log into the box of over ssh, and listen to the microphone and all such nasty things. we just do not support all session tracking with startx, you have to use a displaymanager to log in, or put yourself into these groups, if you can take the mentioned risks. |
