Not only Radeon-Problem. Different Notebooks and Graphics *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 548328 *** reverting mess up by Kris Kaiser. James, any /var/log/Xorg.0.log? It's on the initial report (Comment 0 I guess). Incidentally, the laptop in question in my wife's and since she needs to be able to use it, I've re-installed 11.1 on it. I can test anything you need but it'll need me to have the time to upgrade and then possibly revert to 11.1 if it fails. The similar problem on notebook HP Compaq 6715b (AMD Turion 64 X2, ATI Xpress 1250). Radeonhd driver was working quite well in openSuse 11.1 but it is broken in OpenSuse 11.2. The screen flicks every few seconds (like broken old TV). It makes notebook almost unusable and AMD stopped the development of fglrx drivers for these chips some time ago. Still the same issue with openSUSE 11.3 (add boot option 'nomodeset')? What are the results on 11.3 with radeon driver instead (without boot option 'nomodeset'). Still waiting for a response for four weeks now. Please reopen once you can provide the requested feedback. Thanks. |
