Configuring IrDA with YaST2 module doesn't take affect on system configuration

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In computer wirt IrDA (for ex., dongle SigmaSTIr4200) open YaST2 module IrDA
2. change port from /dev/tty... to irda0 (or do any: enable/disable IrDA, change port or baud rate)
3. Press to save and quit
4. Open again same module
Actual Results:
1. port is still /dev/tty... (No changes – old configuration.)
2. File /etc/sysconfig/irda is untacched (no changes in it)

Expected Results:
1. port is irda0 (New configuration)
2. Changes in /etc/sysconfig/irda

Comment 3 Mindaugas Baranauskas 2009-11-26 12:45:51 UTC
openSUSE 11.1 worked fine.

This is just that YaST irda module dont write any changes to /etc/sysconfig/irda.
No problems when editing this file manully or by YaST /etc/sysconfig editor
Comment 4 Jiří Suchomel 2009-11-26 15:29:51 UTC
Fixed in yast2-irda-2.19.0.

Find the package in Factory or (probably earlier) in
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home://jsuchome/openSUSE_11.1/noarch/
Comment 5 Mindaugas Baranauskas 2009-11-26 17:18:56 UTC
I just tested it.
Thanks, now port changing works.
But baud rate changing still not saves!
Comment 6 Mindaugas Baranauskas 2009-11-26 17:31:15 UTC
Maybe I need open new bug for this question, but...

And also I saw, that in /ect/sysconfig/irda we can enter a dongle name, but YaST dont't proved this funktionality.
The irattach shows, that now Linux supports these dongles:
        esi
        tekram
        actisys
        actisys+
        girbil
        litelink
        airport
        old_belkin
        ep7211
        mcp2120
        act200l
        ma600
        toim3232
Should we provide this?
Comment 7 Mindaugas Baranauskas 2009-11-26 17:31:49 UTC
An other problem with this module:
Then pressing "Test", I see error "The testing application is not responding.", but then window closes, for very short time I see information about my Nokia 6020, wich is link
Comment 8 Mindaugas Baranauskas 2009-11-26 17:34:08 UTC
so maybe program is responding, all is OK – and maybe there shouldn't be error message
Comment 9 Jiří Suchomel 2009-11-27 08:20:29 UTC
Please try again with yast2-irda-2.19.0.1-2.1.noarch.rpm, from the same place as above, this should fix that baud rate issue.

About the application not responding, please try calling 'irdadump' from console: does it work?

Also, try running it more times. If the result is always the same, please attach YaST log files with the Test session.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558534 - irdadump is not avaivable in openSUSE 11.2

That about dongle option in YaST?

Interesting... could you use irdadump from 11.1?

> That about dongle option in YaST?

I could probably do it, it should be little work, otherwise it would probably not be done, AFAIK IrDA is considered obsolete technology.

Anyway, did saving of baud rate work for you?
Comment 12 Mindaugas Baranauskas 2009-11-27 15:33:25 UTC
Yes, thanks! Baud rate changing now also works.

Yes, I coud use irdadump from 11.1. And now I downgraded irda package to 0.9.18-196.57 (from 11.1 repo) – now pressing "Test" works fine! I see dialog with my phone :)
Comment 13 Mindaugas Baranauskas 2009-11-27 15:51:33 UTC
So all is done that was really necesary.
irdadump will work automaticaly after bug 558534 will be solved.

Dongle option isn't necesary, this is just for completing /etc/sysconfig/irda integrating in YaST. I would like to see it if this option is easy to establish.
Comment 14 Mindaugas Baranauskas 2009-11-29 09:47:58 UTC
Please provide an online update pach for 11.2 to fix it
