Description Forgotten User --EoyBps8f 2009-12-06 09:18:25 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091103 SUSE/3.5.5-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.5

If I start OpenOffice the statusbar displays some items such as (from left to right):

Page x /y | Style | language ... | save status | page view | zoom

If I resize the window or minimise/maximise it those items become invisible, i.e. the text is not displayed anymore, yet clicking on them works.

I uninstalled OOo-kde4 and changed from Oxygen to Cleanlooks to make sure those two are not the cause of the issue.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Kohei Yoshida 2009-12-07 05:41:40 UTC
Well, on my machine this only happens with OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde4. So another kde4 specific issue...
Comment 2 Kohei Yoshida 2009-12-07 05:42:28 UTC
another one for Kendy.
Comment 3 John King 2010-03-26 10:00:38 UTC
I can confirm this on kde 4.3.5 with openoffice 3.2.
The buttons on the status bar do not show up at all when openoffice is first started on my machine.

The status bar itself shows but only the shape of the buttons is visible.
Clicking on the blank buttons will call up the appropriate menu, and sometimes
brings out the button text.  Also changing the kde theme will sometimes reveal
some, but not all of the buttons, though in some cases will hide their
outlines completely.  Similarly, changing the openoffice icon size and style
in the options menu sometimes reveals the button text or alternatively hides the buttons completely.

Following comment 1 above, I've tested 2 settings in .profile

1 adding
export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde4
to the profile doesn't make any difference, the button text is invisible.

but

2 adding
export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde
to the profile reveals all the buttons on the status bar.

I'm working with the 4.3.5 stable desktop & the OOO:Unstable repo.

Same thing here with nothing : no icons.
With OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde4 no icons
With OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde icons

:-)
Comment 6 Vojtech Zeisek 2010-03-26 16:39:14 UTC
For me, this solution does not work. I never get my icons back. In some fields (language, ...) I do not see neither text - only blank area. But clicking works.

openSUSE 11.2
KDE 4.3.5 "release 3"
OpenOffice 3.2.0.7

Same problem. Works with OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde

I think that it is related to the bug #567886
