I believe that issue has been fixed meanwhile with all the updates in X11:Xorg. Otherwise please reopen. I still see this in M5 (KDE Live CD build 553). Same after zypper dup to X11:XOrg. [dri] This chipset requires a kernel module version of 1.17.0, [dri] but the kernel reports a version of 2.1.0.[dri] If using legacy modesetting, upgrade your kernel. [dri] If using kernel modesetting, make sure your module is [dri] loaded prior to starting X, and that this driver was built [dri] with support for KMS. [dri] Disabling DRI. HW: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600] Robin, is this now with KMS en- or disabled? I'm asking since Jeff Mahoney is seing the same problem with KMS disabled. Seife, Robin, which ATI hardware are you using ("hwinfo --gfxcard")? I don't see that issue with a 'RV515 FireGL V3300'.
It's with KMS enabled. With UMS it worked last time I tested. It's a Radeon X600 Mobility, M24 1P (as I wrote above), I'm on another system right now so I cannot get the full info. If you still need more info, I can test again tomorrow evening (CEST), just let me know. Created attachment 353616 [details]

Ok, this kept my little cells busy, so I tried it althoug it's late...
Here's the hwinfo out:

But it seems to be a LiveCD issue - the radeon module is not loaded. When loading it with modprobe, it switches to the native resolution of the Display.
DRI should work, but it seems to be incompatible with my gfxcard.
Starting X is very slow, the fan turns faster and I see GPU reset messages on the console.
See attachment for full dmesg, the interesting stuff starts at second 100.
This seems to be a different issue. Should I file a new bug? (In reply to comment #7) > This seems to be a different issue. Should I file a new bug? Yes, please do so. |
