Description andrea florio 2010-02-11 08:44:57 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; it; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091222 SUSE/3.5.7-1.1.1 Firefox/3.5.7

i'm running openSUSE M1 with LXDE... i noticed that it wasn't able to mount media and shutdown/reboot properly..

i almost immediatly excluded lxde components itsealf simply because they simply worked before on 11.2 and earlier (same package version)

i then complained about lxdm, but it's not the problem since other login managers produce same problem...

at the end i discover the problem IS hal itsealf... is "enought" to manually restart haldaemon service to make everything working again..

actually i don't know if the problem is on initi scripts or something else...

yast2 runlevel show me hal service running but it's not working.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
install lxde and login into lxde session

on Milestone1 it's ALWAYS reproducible, on Milestone2 it's not always happen, but still happen quite frequently

Please follow: http://en.opensuse.org/HAL#HAL_crashes_or_hangs and change /etc/init.d/haldaemon

Please provide a log from a case where HAL wasn't starting correctly at boot time.

Screenshot of boot sequence where boot freezes.

Please note the highlighted entry "Loading CPUFreq modules (CPUFreq not supported)" then after that "Loading Haldaemon ...Done". The boot sequence stops dead at this point. If you need logs please let me know how I can create them.

Regards,
Richard
