Do you have another (network) printer configured which is not reachable, when you try to print? Is it also so low when you try to print from another KDE4 application? >Is it also so low when you try to print from another KDE4 application? Yes. I tried with KWrite and it has the same problem >Do you have another (network) printer configured which is not reachable, when you try to print? Very possibly. I am located in a hospital with a reasonably-sized windows network, and CUPS sees a total of 43 printers (which I haven't done anything to configure, except for the one printer I happen to use). KDE4 is known to have problems if you have configured a local print queue, where the printer is not reachable. The application can hang for several minutes. This is fixed with Qt 4.6.1. I asked if a backport for openSUSE 11.2 is possible, see http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=551103 My bet would be that because of this bug there might also be a large delay if many printers in a network are available. If you agree feel free to mark this bug as duplicate of the above mentioned one. Thanks for the quick answers! I agree a backport would be nice, since this is an annoying issue and should affect quite a few people. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 551103 *** |
