Description Forgotten User xI2C5NvggO 2010-06-24 13:15:52 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/3.5.9-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.9

Installing from local FTP server works fine if anonymous access is permitted, but when user / password authentication is required the installer stumbles in the second stage having apparently forgotten the password.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select FTP installation and supply user / password pair
2. Start installation
3.
Actual Results:
In second stage, YaST will stall with download failure. Entering password in URL as ftp://user:pasword@server allows installation to continue

Expected Results:
Proper installation

YaST logs saved by save_y2logs several days AFTER installation

Please note that logs were only saved several days AFTER installation - machine had been used a bit in the interval.

Will repeat with RC2 on same hardware as soon as I can, this time logs will be saved while fresh.

Yast logs saved by save_y2logs - fresh install of 11.3 RC2

Same behavior as 11.3 RC1 - second stage of install stops saying it can't find the repository. URL shown by 'details' is simply user@ftphost; editting to include password user:password@ftphost allows installation to continue as expected.

This time logs were saved straight after installation had completed.

Noted the same problem on 2 more (desktop) i586 machines with 11.3 RC2; one is using AMD XP2000, the other has a Pentium 4

NB: Bug 617098#c1 & c4 are on HP Pavilion laptop (AMD i586 32 bit)

Maybe worth reporting that this bug is still present in 11.4 milestone 4

Looks fine from installation point of view, registered with password but
later libzypp always reports that repository without password.

InstURL.ycp:158 Using ZyppRepoURL directly from install.inf: ftp://rpm:PASSWORD@katisha/113rc2
Packages.ycp:1335 Initialize Package Manager: ftp://rpm:PASSWORD@katisha/113rc2

I don't know why the password is later omitted, reassigning to libzypp experts.
