Description Forgotten User cAXlJ_FoSf 2010-07-01 11:33:23 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100527 Firefox/3.6.4

I have a MSI Wind U100 with a 945GME (8086:27a6) hardware. Often, although not always when resuming from hibernation I just see the VT8 text console (recognizable by the "resuming from suspend..." message and a blinking cursor), the X mouse cursor is also visible and follows mouse movements. I can switch to other VTs and VT8 but cannot get X to show up. The X server as well as all other processes started before hibernating are alive. /var/log/Xorg.0.log, or /var/log/messages do not show anything unusual. This problem does not occur with the 2.9.1 driver (ie. xorg-x11-driver-video-intel-legacy) and UMS.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Xorg.0.log
Comment 4 Stefan Dirsch 2010-07-01 12:58:57 UTC
Xorg.0.log.old would be interesting in that case.

This is the Xorg.0.log which I copied to my homedir while the (to me inaccessible) X server was still running, X had not restarted in between.
Comment 6 Stefan Dirsch 2010-07-01 13:55:36 UTC
But I don't see a crash in the logfile. Could you also attach /var/log/xdm.errors. Maybe libdrm asserted.
Comment 7 Forgotten User cAXlJ_FoSf 2010-07-01 14:27:06 UTC
As I wrote above, there is no crash involved here, the X server and all X applications are still running, I just cannot switch to it, ie. switching to VT7 on which X is supposed to be running shows me only a text console. And weird enough the X mouse cursor is visible on all VTs that I switch to.

I also don't have a /var/log/xdm.errors logfile, what application is supposed to log what into it?
Comment 8 Stefan Dirsch 2010-07-01 14:48:53 UTC
Ok. Displaymanagers like xdm, gdm, kdm write to /var/log/xdm.errors.

Stefan, do you have an idea what could cause this or if this is known upstream? If not I'll report this upstream at bugs.freedesktop.org.

Not at all.

Go ahead. :-)

So let's close it as upstream.
