There is also a reset when installing new kernel packages onto the system. Can you reproduce by execute "hwinfo" command? Hi Tomek, any new info? YaST uses "hwinfo" utility to get hardware information. Does the system freeze/restart when you use this utility without YaST? Any news here? Else we need to close this one as WORKSFORME. Closing. |
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.70 Safari/533.4 I am unable to collect any information because the computer freezes for a couple of seconds and next gets a hard reset (POST screen). It happens when I e.g list the installed hardware ("Hardware Information" component) in the YaST2 or use the Online Update to update the kernel package. It happens every time. After 3rd try the upgrade kernel procedure broke the kernel installation and now Grub cannot load it. SW: Latest 11.3 release. Does not happen on the Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS. Hardware: - ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO - CORSAIR DDR3 2x1GB 1333Mhz CL9 - AMD Athlon II X2 240, AM3, 2.8 GHz, 2MB (ADX240OCGQBOX) - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB, SATA II, NCQ(ST3500418AS) All set to defaults (not overclocked), hardware in working order, using radeon xorg drivers. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start YaST2 2. Pick up the Hardware Information component and wait as reads in hw information 3. During step 2 (before it finishes) the computer resets.
