Description Juergen Weigert 2010-09-28 21:39:46 UTC
Today I got some funny (and utterly unspecific) kernel messages via syslog:

kernel:[56121.805251] Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason b0 on CPU 0.
kernel:[56121.805259] You have some hardware problem, likely on the PCI bus.
kernel:[56121.805264] Dazed and confused, but trying to continue
kernel:[56347.701355] npviewer.bin[30439]: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp bffd261c error 14 in npviewer.bin[8048000+2a000]

This is funny, because normally the kernels mesages are so deep into details that I have trouble understanding them, now its the lack of any details.

Thereafter, any process aceessing the /dev/snd/* system would just block. Happend while firefox played some music, probably via flash pugin.

kernel 2.6.34.7-0.2-desktop

Just for the fun of it, this is how KDE tried to show me the message :-)

Sound works again after suspend/resume. But I fail to reproduce.

We'll keep this open for a few days ... in case you can reproduce. Please advise. If it's just a one-off (non-reproducible) we will close and you can reopen later if necessary. Thanks!

Please don't, it seems like a general problem. I'm aware of 4 reports till now. 2 with SERR bit set, two without source bit set (bug 678882).

No more such reports seem to appear. This looks like a problem with that particular kernel. If you still can reproduce the issue, please reopen.
