There are two waiting merge requests for rpmlint-checks:

http://gitorious.com/opensuse/rpmlint-checks/merge_requests/

It seems that merge request have been disabled for a few days.

openSUSE is a community project, isn`t it?

The RPMLINT checks should contain information how one can fix the specific warning(s) [see merge request 1].

Here is an example for a really bad description. Nobody on #opensuse-kde or #opensuse-buildservice knows how to solve it (kdegames4 in K:U:SC or K:D:F):

kajongg.x86_64: W: python-bytecode-inconsistent-mtime /usr/share/kde4/apps/kajongg/genericdelegates.pyc 2010-10-12T22:25:08 /usr/share/kde4/apps/kajongg/genericdelegates.py 2010-09-12T19:29:31
The timestamp embedded in this python bytecode file isn't equal to the mtime
of the original source file, which will force the interpreter to recompile the
.py source every time, ignoring the saved bytecode.

I tried it with "touch --reference=$file $file[c]" already without any success ...

Reproducible: Always

Hi Johannes,

I've merged your rpmlint-checks requests, thanks for them. I however don't know what to do with this bugreport. it seems you're reporting a bug in the package to me.

do you have a suggestion for a better description?
Comment 2 Dirk Mueller 2010-11-19 12:52:35 UTC
please reopen when you can provide requested information, thanks
Comment 3 Forgotten User Q_jroExIGN 2010-12-13 16:05:41 UTC
I reopen this bug report since nobody has/could told me how I can fix this

W: python-bytecode-inconsistent-mtime

thing (in general).
And the description provided by RPMLINT does not help, too.

So it is up to you explaining it since you pushed/added it to the checks and I assume you know why you pushed it ...
Comment 4 Dirk Mueller 2011-08-19 23:57:38 UTC
run

python %py_libdir/py_compile.py *.py

Please show it in KDE:Unstable:SC/kdegames4 how it works and update the description in RPMLINT.

As far as I can follow, the actual issue reported has been addressed (fix merged)
