Full log (dmesg)
Please run the following test: # echo core > /sys/power/pm_test # echo disk > /sys/power/state (it should return to the command prompt after 5-10 sec.) and let me know if you can reproduce the symptoms. After run this test computer hangs up instead of standby mode and the monitor shutdown. Only the reboot can help. Kde from this repo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/45/openSUSE_11.3/ suspend don't work Can you test the latest available kernel from: http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/master/ matching your system configuration and see if the issue is still there? Please note that you need to test with KMS enabled for suspend/resume to work. Hhe hibernation mode does not work. It starts as usual, the progress bar can be seen. But then, the computer hangs and the monitor dies shutdown. Created attachment 415221 [details]

If the test from comment #3 fails, then most likely there's a device that fails to resume/thaw. Does the problem still occur if you rmmod all of the USB controller drivers before hibernation? I disconnected all USB devices, but it has given nothing, a bug is repeated Created attachment 415543 [details]

In the process of falling asleep, you see a black screen with errors(see attachment video), which has a log look? Your dmesg output from comment #2 shows that hibernation fails because of a memory allocation problem. The fact that the screen remains black after that suggests that there's a graphics driver issue. Please post the output from "cat /sys/power/image_size" from your system. # cat /sys/power/image_size 409747456 Please do "echo 350000000 > /sys/power/image_size" (as root) and see if the system hibernates then (using "echo disk > /sys/power/state"). # echo 350000000 > /sys/power/image_size # cat /sys/power/image_size 350000000 Nothing happens After the command"echo disk > /sys/power/state" screen goes black, but the system does not fall asleep Created attachment 416294 [details]

So, I think you're seeing two different problems, one of which is that the image size is too big and the kernel cannot create an image of that size, and the second is that one of device drivers you're using crashes after the image has been created (or the creation of it has failed). I think we should debug the second problem first. Please try to boot with "init=/bin/bash" and do: # mount /sys # swapon -a # echo disk > /sys/power/state (and if it resumes) # echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger (to reboot). Please let me know the result. Lowering priority as the issue is hardware/platform-specific. # mount /sys # swapon -a [45.2142483] Adding 2103292k swap on/dev/sdf1. The log from comment #24 doesn't indicate so. Also, does the screen remain permanently black after the "echo disk > /sys/power/state" ? No he did not go into hibernation, the monitor goes blank, but the system unit continues to operate, there is no power outage. After the command "echo disk > /sys/power/state" is repeated the same symptoms In going into hibernat, the system will switch to text mode and I see a log with errors(see attachment photo), "dmesg" don't show it. How else can see it? I _think_ the "blank screen" problem is related to the radeon driver, while the "failing hibernation" problem from comment #1 can be worked around by echoing 350000000 into /sys/power/image_size before hibernation. Can you please check if the radeon problem is still there in the kernel from http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/master/ (as I asked in comment #6)? I can not connect this repository yast does not allow it. Downloaded separately kernels can not be installed because of dependency to preload OK The first problem you're seeing is the same as the upstream Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30482 The second one is most likely also upstream, but I was unable to determine the right upstream bug for it, because I don't know which driver is causing problems to happen when it's resume callback is executed. I'm afraid we won't be able to proceed any further without finding that driver. What happens if you boot with "radeon.nomodeset=1" in the kernel command line, do # echo 350000000 > /sys/power/image_size and try to hibernate? >> What happens if you boot with "radeon.nomodeset=1" in the kernel command line, do

But this is not the latest patch for X's, which closed a local security problem, I do not install something from the next patch. What is the most intreteresnoe at the start of first screen is dark, and then the screen goes blank and goes into sleep mode, hot keys and I switch to text mode, the monitor wakes up, switch to graphics mode when you try to move it off again. Nothing helps. I upgraded to 2.6.37.6 kernel from the repository http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/openSUSE-11.4/openSUSE_11.4/ and now when I try to send the computer in sleep mode, the system saves the image to disk, the monitor turns off and it goes into standby mode, but power to the computer system unit is not disconnected. In this case, before disconnecting the monitor, the system goes to text mode and displayed on a minute an error message. When you restart the system behaves as if she came out of sleep mode. Do I understand correctly that the 2.6.37.6 kernel from openSUSE 11.4 does hibernate and resume correctly except that it doesn't power off the system after the hibernate image has been created? Yes, I see it is this OK, that's better than before. There are a few possibilities: (1) One of device drivers blocks during the device power-off phase. (2) The non-boot CPUs cannot be shut down. (3) The system refuses to enter the S4 state. Does it power off if you boot the kernel with maxcpus=1 ? Does the normal power of (ie. during system shutdown) work? Does it power off if you do "echo 0 > /sys/power/pm_async" before hibernation? >Does the normal power of (ie. during system shutdown) work?
Yes when the computer shutdown power to the system unit is turned off properly
>Does it power off if you do "echo 0 > /sys/power/pm_async" before hibernation?
No hibernation don't work, the screen goes blank but power to the system unit does not turn off
>>Does it power off if you boot the kernel with maxcpus=1 ?
No, it does not work, the image is stored, displayed a few seconds an error message, the screen goes blank and power on the system unit does not turn off
OK, thanks for the information. I think that one of the device drivers causes the system to hang during the last phase of hibernation, but more testing would be necessary to verify this supposition and identify the device in question. Would you be able to compile your own kernel from sources or do I need to prepare a test kernel for you? Opts: (null) OK, I understand that the log in the previous comment is simply a boot log from the 'default' kernel (which is not very useful here). Or is there anything in it I'm supposed to pay attention to? This piece of log is the same for "default" kernel and "desktop" kernel and appearing after adding boot parameter string "drm.debug = 07 ". I want to specify this: <7>[ 3.903140] PM: Marking nosave pages: 000000000009f000 - 0000000000100000 <7>[ 3.903146] PM: Basic memory bitmaps created <7>[ 3.914362] PM: Basic memory bitmaps freed <6>[ 3.987132] PM: Starting manual resume from disk <7>[ 3.987137] PM: Hibernation image partition 8:1 present <7>[ 3.987139] PM: Looking for hibernation image. <7>[ 3.987615] PM: Image not found (code -22) <7>[ 3.987617] PM: Hibernation image not present or could not be loaded. OK, but this is a boot log, right? So this is normally done during boot and there's nothing wrong with it. Or is it what you get when you try to resume from hibernation, after having created the image? This is the boot log system that was previously disabled, no resume from hibernation Initial commandline parameters:

Mon May 9 06:18:06 MSD 2011: performing suspend
I conducted an experiment and found Mesa gathered without gallium and kms. Installed Mesa from repository http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/pontostroy/openSUSE_11.4/i586/Mesa-classic-7.11.git20110501-11.1.i586.rpm As a result, my computer began to go into hibernation. I think that the cause is a Radeon driver, kms and mesa libs That's very likely. Reassigning to Egbert as a graphics problem. How are things going to solve this problem? How are things going to solve this problem? Unfortunately we do not have the ressources to address that issue still for openSUSE 11.4. Could you please test again with a current Milestone of openSUSE 12.1, whether the issue still exists and give me feedback about the result? Thanks. Still waiting for a response for more than a month now. Please reopen once you can provide the requested feedback. Thanks. This bug is still present in opensuse 12.1 Please reopened this bug *** Bug 734226 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 732370 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** openSUSE 12.1 is no longer supported. Hence the issue won't be fixed for this product. In case the issue still is reproducable with a supported product (openSUSE 12.3/13.1 at the moment) or with openSUSE:Factory, please feel free to reopen. Thanks. |
