Description Forgotten User zSppWjup9E 2010-12-02 20:50:53 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.12 SUSE/9.0.582.0 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/9.0.582.0 Safari/534.12

Very often, Kmail freezes for a few minutes and then comes back.

It can freeze while writing a message or when clicking, for example, on "Send". It freezes together with Kontact. When it comes back, everything is like nothing had happened, but the application is unusable for sometimes between 5 and 10 minutes.

Reproducible: Sometimes

I see the same bug and have the impression that this freezes are "new" and therefore most probably related to a security update.

IMHO the bug could be caused by the krb5 update that was released some days ago (at least in the update-test repo). What version of the krb5 package do you use? (The update installed krb5 1.8.1-5.3.1)

I've got the version 1.8.1-5.1.1 of krb5. It's marked red in Yast, the 1.8.1-4.3 being tue one proposed.

In attachment a screenshot of all the version available...

Hi,

I change the severity to major as it occurs many times a day hanging for 5 a 10 minutes and making the email client unusable, what is a major loss of functionality.

I've tried to remove the updates to krb5, as suggested in #c1 but it doesn't change anything. I confirm it's a sort of "new" thing, since November only.

Could someone try something? Kontact is a MAJOR application of oS, this bug is major.

Thanks a lot.

Works for me with kmail2 from openSUSE 12.1 (which of course has other issues).
