In Yast backup tool, the option to set the /tmp folder location (for creation of the backup) is greyed out/disabled UNLESS you check the 'Back Up Hard Disk System Areas' checkbox.

It doesn't make sense to me, why should you have to check that box first? What does it have to do with it?

Being able to change the tmp location used is important, because most people's /tmp doesn't have enough room for building a large backup.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.yast->
2...backup->
3...add->next->expert
Actual Results:  
/tmp edit box is disabled unless you check the above checkbox

Expected Results:  
I don't think you should have to check that box.

Fixed in yast2-backup 2.20.2 (openSUSE Factory)
