After rebooting the panel is there again but the NetworkManager-Applet is still hiding: "~> nm-applet An instance of nm-applet is already running. ** (nm-applet:28311): WARNING **: <WARN> constructor(): Couldn't initialize the D-Bus manager. " For additional informations see: crash in Network Manager: Updating openSUSE 11.4 f... https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=637126 (In reply to comment #2) > For additional informations see: > > crash in Network Manager: Updating openSUSE 11.4 f... > https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=637126 Should I change the component to the D-Bus? Do you need any more information? Should I try to reinstall any special package? Regards Martin (pistazienfresser) GNOME's Bug Buddy says today after/while the crash: Distribution: openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 5 of 6 (i586) Gnome Release: 2.32.1 (null) (SUSE) BugBuddy Version: 2.32.0 System: Linux 2.6.37-rc5-12-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-12-09 16:04:57 +0100 i686 X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation X Vendor Release: 10902902 Selinux: No Accessibility: Disabled GTK+ Theme: Sonar Icon Theme: Sonar GTK+ Modules: gnomesegvhandler, canberra-gtk-module Memory status: size: 142737408 vsize: 142737408 resident: 19308544 share: 15290368 rss: 19308544 rss_rlim: 18446744073709551615 CPU usage: start_time: 1292786460 rtime: 94 utime: 82 stime: 12 cutime:0 cstime: 0 timeout: 0 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 100 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/gnome-panel' [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [New Thread 0xb0b08b70 (LWP 2632)] [New Thread 0xb651db70 (LWP 2393)] 0xffffe424 in __kernel_vsyscall () #0 0xffffe424 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0xb6ef00eb in waitpid () at ../sysdeps/unix/syscall-template.S:82 #2 0xb6e2e1d3 in g_spawn_sync (working_directory=0x0, argv=0x83293e0, envp=0x0, flags=G_SPAWN_SEARCH_PATH, child_setup=0, user_data=0x0, standard_output=0x0, standard_error=0x0, exit_status=0x0, error=0xbfbff03c) at gspawn.c:392 #3 0xb6e2e734 in g_spawn_command_line_sync (command_line=0x825ca20 "bug-buddy --appname=\"gnome-panel\" --include=\"/tmp/bug-buddy-92SWNV\" --unlink-tempfile --pid=2392", standard_output=0x0, standard_error=0x0, exit_status=0x0, error=0xbfbff03c) at gspawn.c:706 #4 0xb77a9046 in run_bug_buddy (signum=11) at gnome-segvhanlder.c:240 #5 bugbuddy_segv_handle (signum=11) at gnome-segvhanlder.c:191 #6 <signal handler called> #7 0xb135411d in panel_applet_get_xid (applet=0x0, screen=0x810a0c8) at panel-applet.c:2303 #8 0xb135463d in panel_applet_factory_get_applet (connection=0x814d038, sender=0x82c19a0 ":1.21", object_path=0x826ea30 "/org/gnome/panel/applet/NotificationAreaAppletFactory", interface_name=0x82bc320 "org.gnome.panel.applet.AppletFactory", method_name=0x81ab5d0 "GetApplet", parameters=0x825ab08, invocation=0x8307860, user_data=0x82a0c80) at panel-applet-factory.c:167 #9 method_call_cb (connection=0x814d038, sender=0x82c19a0 ":1.21", object_path=0x826ea30 "/org/gnome/panel/applet/NotificationAreaAppletFactory", interface_name=0x82bc320 "org.gnome.panel.applet.AppletFactory", method_name=0x81ab5d0 "GetApplet", parameters=0x825ab08, invocation=0x8307860, user_data=0x82a0c80) at panel-applet-factory.c:187 #10 0xb7130ada in call_in_idle_cb (user_data=0x8307860) at gdbusconnection.c:4423 #11 0xb6ddfbf0 in g_idle_dispatch (source=0x826d258, callback=0xb7130980 <call_in_idle_cb>, user_data=0x8307860) at gmain.c:4347 #12 0xb6de3ca9 in g_main_dispatch (context=0x810f268) at gmain.c:2267 #13 g_main_context_dispatch (context=0x810f268) at gmain.c:2824 #14 0xb6de44b0 in g_main_context_iterate (context=0x810f268, block=1, dispatch=1, self=0x80e6788) at gmain.c:2902 #15 0xb6de4b8f in g_main_loop_run (loop=0x81cfbd8) at gmain.c:3110 #16 0xb73bef99 in IA__gtk_main () at gtkmain.c:1237 #17 0x0806990a in main (argc=1, argv=0xbfbff964) at main.c:130 Thread 3 (Thread 0xb651db70 (LWP 2393)): #0 0xffffe424 in __kernel_vsyscall () No symbol table info available. #1 0xb6bb4f6e in __poll (fds=0x81522e0, nfds=3, timeout=-1) at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c:87 resultvar = <value optimized out> oldtype = -516 result = <value optimized out> #2 0xb6df48fb in g_poll (fds=0x81522e0, nfds=3, timeout=-1) at gpoll.c:132 No locals. #3 0xb6de43e6 in g_main_context_poll (context=0x81518e0, block=1, dispatch=1, self=0x8151988) at gmain.c:3215 poll_func = 0xb6df48d0 <g_poll> #4 g_main_context_iterate (context=0x81518e0, block=1, dispatch=1, self=0x8151988) at gmain.c:2897 max_priority = 2147483647 timeout = -1 some_ready = <value optimized out> nfds = 3 allocated_nfds = <value optimized out> fds = 0x81522e0 __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ = "g_main_context_iterate" #5 0xb6de4b8f in g_main_loop_run (loop=0x8151970) at gmain.c:3110 self = 0x8151988 __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ = "g_main_loop_run" #6 0xb7141321 in gdbus_shared_thread_func (data=0x0) at gdbusprivate.c:276 No locals. #7 0xb6e0d844 in g_thread_create_proxy (data=0x8151988) at gthread.c:1897 thread = 0x8151988 __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ = "g_thread_create_proxy" #8 0xb6ee7b25 in start_thread (arg=0xb651db70) at pthread_create.c:297 pd = 0xb651db70 unwind_buf = {cancel_jmp_buf = {{jmp_buf = {-1225809932, 0, 4001536, -1236151288, 1471139972, 687635077}, mask_was_saved = 0}}, priv = {pad = {0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0}, data = {prev = 0x0, cleanup = 0x0, canceltype = 0}}} not_first_call = <value optimized out> robust = <value optimized out> pagesize_m1 = <value optimized out> sp = <value optimized out> freesize = <value optimized out> __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ = "start_thread" #9 0xb6bbfc5e in clone () at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/i386/clone.S:130 No locals. Regards pistazienfresser Do you, by any chance, have accessibility enabled for the user that has the issue? In the last 2 and a bit month my factory-tested installation has a bit changed since openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 5 of 6. But there seems to be a quite similar bug reported on the factory list now for 11.4 RC1: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2011-02/msg00766.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2011-02/msg00755.html Should I install 11.4 Milestone 5 or Release Candidate 1 over my factory-tested installation and try if I would be able to reproduce that failure of the GNOME panel/network manager again? Regards Martin (pistazienfresser) (In reply to comment #5) > Do you, by any chance, have accessibility enabled for the user that has the > issue? ??? I think I had completely misunderstood you question while writing comment 6. I do not recall changing anything for that user(s) that had the problem - only the user 1000 was probably enabled to [x] receive system mails in the standard installation process. And the other users are still existing on my installed factory-tested system - maybe the needed information is hidden from me ignorant one in any log??? I only see now in the reports posted here: (In reply to comment #4) > [...] > GNOME's Bug Buddy says today after/while the crash: > [...] > Selinux: No > Accessibility: Disabled > GTK+ Theme: Sonar https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=637126#c0 pistazienfresser [reporter] 2010-12-13 07:29:36 UTC > [...] > Selinux: No > Accessibility: Disabled > GTK+ Theme: Sonar > [...] https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=637126#c5 pistazienfresser [reporter] 2010-12-18 00:40:35 UTC > panel crash 2010-12-18_01-10 > > Created the user 1000 new and got a pretty panel applications crash - > hopefully > this time with more informations. > > Review Crash Details: > Distribution: openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 5 of 6 (i586) > Gnome Release: 2.32.1 (null) (SUSE) > BugBuddy Version: 2.32.0 > > System: Linux 2.6.37-rc5-12-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-12-09 16:04:57 +0100 > i686 > X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation > X Vendor Release: 10902902 > Selinux: No > Accessibility: Disabled > GTK+ Theme: Sonar Is there anywhere a description how to determine (and change?) the current/previous status of that meant "accessibility" ? Could it be that someone changed the default settings of that "accessibility" for a new user in the updated packages in the time past Milestone 5? The search in the GNOME help for "accessibility" (on the 11.3 system I am currently logged in) gave me among other hits: file:///usr/share/gnome/help-bundle/gdm/de/gdm.xml#accessibilitygconfconfiguration > 5.6.2. GConf-Schlüssel der Barrierefreiheit > > GDM bietet die folgenden GConf-Schlüssel zur Steuerung der Barrierefreiheit: > Konfigurationsschlüssel von GDM > > /desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility > [...] Was something like that meant with accessibility? ??? Martin (puzzled pistazienfresser) (In reply to comment #5) > Do you, by any chance, have accessibility enabled for the user that has the > issue? If you wanna disable it, run the > 'gnome-session-properties" in the terminal, then cancel the selection of > 'NetworkManager', after that you'll not see the log anymore. Actually (2 and a half month after the report) I have not more problems connected to this bug (see comment 6) - not with the networkmanager and its helpers nor with the panel. If the bug reported by Larry for RC1 is not connected to this one and I could not help giving any more information I think this report can be closed. Okay, thanks for the update. Let's close it then, and we'll reopen if it occurs again. |
