Screen Capture Of Duplicate Entry

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-0.7.1 Firefox/3.6.12

When an optical disc is inserted into the drive tray and then mounted by the system, the volume appears in the left "Places" pane twice. It is also detected in the device notifier twice for some reason.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert optical disc
2. Wait for disc to be detected
3. Open Dolphin and view "Places" pane.
Actual Results:
Duplicate optical disc volumes appear in Dolphin

Expected Results:
Only one entry should be shown.

I guess you have hal installed. Does removing it help? (You may still lose some functionality, and may want to reinstall it afterwards.) Thanks for testing.

Duplicate drives no longer appear for optical devices, but additional drives corresponding to the mounted hard disk partitions do (specifically, in My Computer, partitions are shown twice under different names - once by mount point and once by disk id).

Yes, I have hal installed, but it appears to have been automatically selected at install as it is a dependency of K3B. gimp-module-hal also requires it (and was also automatically selected).

Bug has been updated to 11.4 M5.

I have now tested this bug against 11.4 M6, and the removal of HAL appears to have helped, but attempting to eject an optical disc via Dolphin once again opens the drive tray and then immediately re-closes it. Should this be reported as a separate bug?

Yes, please open a new bug for this issue. It does not really fit the title of this report any more.
