Despite bug #648843, I seem to have an installation where fuse is not automatically loaded.

13:12 xlin75:/dev/shm > sshfs ares: z
Password: 
fuse: device not found, try 'modprobe fuse' first
13:18 xlin75:~ > l /dev/fuse
ls: cannot access /dev/fuse: No such file or directory

Argh, the bug #648843 fix was not meant to go into 11.3.

I'll see if I can get that reverted.
