updating the packages via yast i saw a message:
"mkinitrd : -s invalid option"

This is a bug in YaST, it should not call mkinitrd with the -s option if the bootsplash package is not installed.

I think the the kernel %post script execute mkinitrd during a kernel update.

perl-Bootloader did this only if you create the initial config during installation.

The ^%post scripts calls /usr/lib/module-init-tools/weak-modules2, which only calls mkinitrd w/ the -k and -i options. No -s.

The -s is coming from somewhere and it's not the kernel package.
