I tried to find out what 'broadband' could be. Possibly tethering with a smartphone?

a) the tab is disabled and won't react, 
b) help just says 'documentation not found'

how could I proceed?

knetworkmanager is not maintained anymore. Try openSUSE 12.1's plasmoid-networkmanagement.
