Bug 684759

Screen shot showing information being displayed in an incorrect manner

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

Any time I run an update via Yast, the download progress screen fonts are not displayed correctly. Rather than describe, it would be easier to just send a screen shot. This only happens in the update download progress screen and nowhere else in the system.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open "Yast Software update"
2.Accept updates and continue
3.Same display errors occur each time
Actual Results:
Incorrect information display

Expected Results:
information displayed in an orderly manner

The only other info might be that my system was upgraded from 11.3 rather than a fresh install.

fixed in yast2-qt-2.20.7

Of course this fix will now "bake" for some time on Factory. Any idea if the fix will then be ported to Update-Test? Or only in openSUSE 12.0?

Yes, the next opensuse release will contain this fix. An online update isn't planned because this isn't a major bug.

If you don't want to wait for the next release, you can find updated packages for 11.4 in my build service repository:

I was just curious, thanks. And, yes, I can live with this "cosmetic" bug (or if I couldn't I could use "yast --gtk" where I don't see the bug, or even text-mode YaST in /dev/tty2); it isn't like that X11 bug which was crashing Firefox some months ago, whose fix took its time being ported, and which finally was the reason I added the Update-Test repository in addition to the "stable" Update one.

This bug is indeed absent in the recently released openSUSE 12.1.
