Please remove dependency on hal from the calibre package.

Upstream has made remarks about this before that may be relevant[1], and in 2009 Ubuntu dropped the hal dependency saying it was removed upstream:
* debian/rules: Drop hal fdi moving, new upstream version does not use hal
any more. Drop hal dependency, too.[2]

1. On a system without hal or calibre already installed, install calibre.
2.
3.

Closing as fixed? - Or do Assignee want to do a maintanance release for 11.4?
Comment 2 Bjørn Lie 2011-04-25 18:07:32 UTC
ok bug got reassigned to me, then I'm closing it as fixed - package will be in 12.1 without hal dependency.

If users of calibre want a halfree version of the package it's available from
