Description Thomas Hopp 2011-06-21 09:32:20 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110420 SUSE/3.6.17-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.17

It is impossible (even it is documented) to use LDAP as a data-source if i use the suse rpm. This is possible if i use the LibreOffice (former OpenOffice) from the original OOo-(or libreOffice-)Repo.

Why is this funktionality disabled?

(on the version for Windows it is possible to use a LDAP aas data source as in the documentation describted.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Choose 'Extra'/'Options'/'Base' and try to add a database.
Actual Results:
you can choose only local db-files

Expected Results:
connect to a ldap-source

Please provide a more detailed description: I can't see precisely what you are doing. Did you mean 'Tools / Options' and then in the 'LibreOffice Base / Databases' item add a database using the 'New' button? That sounds weird...
Comment 2 Thomas Hopp 2011-06-21 15:16:31 UTC
Yes, this is one way to reproduce it. An other way is: User LO-Writer with an open document. / F4 to open data source / in the upper left box make a right click and choose registered database (the lower of the two entrys). Then a new window opened Choose 'New' Again a new window opened in which you can 'Create new data link'. The Doc means that there is a possibility to create a link to a LDAP or Oracle-DB, ADABAS,ODBC, JDBC, and so on but you can only choose a ODF-file.

If you use a odf-file ther is no possibility to connect this to an LDAP-source.

There never was a way to directly link against anything else than an ODB file from that dialog. The link is don by the ODB file. The bug isn't on the LibreOffice side... but in the documentation. Can you cite it and give some references to it?

That depends on the database connectors you have installed. I'm not sure about LDAP.
Comment 4 Thomas Hopp 2011-06-22 12:27:06 UTC
To cite it seems unuseble i user the german version. (And ther are no Pages or other reference to see in the help) But you can find it on any way you search for info named LDAP-Server in die Help.

Is there anywhere a (LibreOffice) documentation how to connect an LDAP-Source as Address-Source?

"How to create an odb-files which links to an LDAP ..."
Comment 5 Cédric Bosdonnat 2011-06-22 13:48:27 UTC
LDAP connectors are depending on an outdated Seamonkey sources and we don't want to build them.
