ftview is a tool that can be used to test whether a font file contains a valid font (hearsay from KDE support). The tool returns an error for BDF fonts distributed by X.Org.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Extract the file courR24.bdf from the archive.
  2. Execute { ftview courR24.bdf; }

Actual Results:
  2.
could not find/open any font file
error = 0x0001

Expected Results:
  2.
It is hard to tell because the tool ftview is undocumented. Probably a preview of the font.

Allegedly fixed in Version 2.4.5.
