Parallel port not working?



Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make a vanilla openSUSE 11.4 DVD 32-bit installation with KDE as desktop.
2. Try to use the Lexmark Optra M412 laser printer at the parallel port.


Actual Results:  
I can't use the printer: The configuration tools (YaST Printer, http://localhost:631 and system-config-printer) don't let me choose the parallel port as connection nor do they recognize the printer. It seems that they don't recognize the parallel port.



Expected Results:  
It works out-of-the-box.

hwinfo.txt

It's strange the hwinfo (in difference to all the printer config tools) recognizes the printer.

type "modprobe lp" as root, see dup bug for permanent workaround
