We should install NM also for non-laptops that have wireless hardware.

Or even install it always, it has improved since 2005 when we made the decision to keep it out sometimes.

NM also makes the life easier on Desktops, when a USB wlan stick is connected or just a cable plugged in. It all normally does work out of the box with NM.

And NM is the cross-distro tool for accessing WLANs, VPNs and so on.
