Description matthias propst 2012-01-15 22:11:57 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1

i freshly installed openSUSE 12.1 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 and beginning to discover systemd.

When i type:
systemctl

in one of the lines i see this:
systemd-modules-load.service loaded failed failed Load Kernel Modules

going deeper into discovery i typed:
systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service

this tells me this:
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-modules-load.service; static
Active: failed since Sun, 15 Jan 2012 21:12:52 +0100; 1h 53min ago
Process: 477 ExecStart=/lib/systemd/systemd-modules-load (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
CGroup: name=systemd:/system/systemd-modules-load.service

However this might just be a blemish. Since everything else seems working fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Boot System
2.Open a shell and type:
systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service

Expected Results:
systemctl-modules-load.service should load correctly with no FAILURE.

the output von uname -a is:

Linux Marvin.site 3.1.0-1.2-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Nov 3 14:45:45 UTC 2011 (187dde0) i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Comment 1 Michael Lambert 2012-01-16 01:52:48 UTC
I see exactly the same on 64bit OS,
Linux linux-qz4c 3.2.0-2-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jan 5 16:50:33 UTC 2012 (d839831) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Comment 2 Frederic Crozat 2012-01-19 12:51:32 UTC
the service is "failing" because there is no module to be loaded. I'll see if I can make it not fail
Comment 3 Frederic Crozat 2012-01-26 16:10:18 UTC
package with a fix is available on obs in home:fcrozat:systemd / systemd

It should no longer cause a failure status.
Comment 4 Michael Lambert 2012-01-27 00:59:12 UTC
Thanks, your update fixed it for me.
Comment 5 matthias propst 2012-01-28 21:53:25 UTC
Will this be in the official updates repo as well?
Comment 6 Frederic Crozat 2012-01-30 11:51:30 UTC
yes, it will be part of the next maintenance update of systemd for 12.1

Everytime somebody asks for it, I'll add one more week for delay (just kidding ;)

I'm planning to push the package to maintenance team either this week or next week.
