Description macias - 2012-03-07 17:14:55 UTC
password promot for encryption is buried among booting messages

*Ok, short version because the timeouts from this website are killing me.*

You have encrypted partition, you should enter password for it, when booting up computer. You should see something like this ON BLANK SCREEN:

please enter password: |_______________

Actually you see:

booting messages mess
please enter password
more booting messages mess
|

Since there is timeout for entering password it is easy to miss the fact, that computer does not think long, but it waits for the input, however thanks to complete mess on the screen it is not clearly readable.

Could you be more specific about which password you mean? For bootloader (which one)? Or for encrypted filesystem?
Comment 2 macias - 2012-03-08 14:10:35 UTC
The password for encrypted partition (see the original post, at the beginning). When you boot your system, you will be asked for that password.

Then, please, don't use the Bootloader component if the bug is not related to bootloader - that was why I asked.

sounds like a systemd issue - at least the password prompt isn't buried when booting with sysvinit for me...
Comment 5 Frederic Crozat 2012-03-09 08:58:52 UTC
this will be fixed when we will use plymouth, which will handle the password prompt (ie for 12.2).
Comment 6 Frederic Crozat 2013-06-14 02:18:37 UTC
closing as fixed, starting with 12.2.
